What is "Bored in Brno"? a) the best Czech movie of 2003, b) a blog about Brno (the Czech Republic's second largest city) and my adventures in and observations of south and east Moravia. I usually post about music, arts, culture, and stuff in Brno; or, I talk about whatever; or, I may bore you.

Czech Phil Plays On!
On the music side of things, on which my comments have been thin recently, there's been a development at the Czech Philharmonic. Rosie Johnston reported on Czech Radio about the new music director:
The Czech Philharmonic has a new conductor. As of 2009, the orchestra which was first conducted by Antonín Dvořák over a century ago will hand the baton over to the Israeli conductor Eliahu Inbal. (More)
This post doesn't bore me, but I am just wondering: No protests against an Israeli? There was a German some time ago... I don't want to bother anybody, just the first thing I thought of. Libor
I love your website - especially the "rohliky" design! I am not sure if I can write in Czech so I will do it in English. I found your blog on www.globeofblogs.com under the search word "Czech":) I am Czech but have been living in the US for about 10 years now. I recently created a blog called the Czechmate diary - an upbeat web connection for Czechs and Slovaks living abroad. I would love for you to Czech it out!
