Ein Bischen
Last time I visited Vienna I overheard this bit of conversation while at the Lippizaner's morning practice. To get the full impression of the conversation one must imagine a large indoor horse arena decorated in a neo-classical style with strains of Johann Strauss in the background.
American Sorority Girl #1: That's the difference between here and Prague, you know?
Her Friend: What?
#1: Well, ya know, Vienna is like this. It's about Art and culture. Prague and Berlin are more about history.
Friend: Oh.
#1: I've been here a month now, I should know.

A graduate student in music and anthropology writing a dissertation about music in Moravia, the eastern third of the Czech Republic. At some point, the Czech Republic's "second city" (that would be Brno) captured my attention, and I've since been blogging about events, arts, music, and other stuff—basically whatever interests me in and around the cityscape. I'm not living in Brno now, but I keep up with the cultural pulse from afar as best I can.

A pity that Alex and I weren't taking notes on the American high school conversations in front of us at the puppet Don Giovanni here. On the other hand, the large heaving rumps about to fall out of their pants as the girls climbed around on the seats were perhaps more distracting than their chatter.
